Browns draft Nick Chubb’s replacement in way-too-early 2025 mock draft
Scott Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NFL Draft just wrapped up and the Cleveland Browns added six new players who are yet to sign NFL contracts.

Still, it is never too early to look at the next draft cycle and what the team may do.

In a way-too-early 2025 NFL mock draft from our very own Travis May, the Browns find their Nick Chubb replacement and they don’t go far to get him.

Cleveland Browns select Ohio State RB TreVeyon Henderson at No. 18 overall

“Nick Chubb is coming off a terrible injury and will be 29 before the 2024 season is over. TreVeyon Henderson exploded for nearly 1600 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns as a true freshman back in 2021 and is one of the most incredible players in college football today. Cleveland could keep him home in Ohio if they select him here.” - Travis May, A to Z Sports

Chubb has been a fan favorite who puts his head down and works since being a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. In that time, Chubb has run for 6,511 yards and 48 touchdowns. The knee injury he suffered early last season leaves the Browns waiting to see how he can return from it.

Even if he does come back strong, the Browns need to plan for life after Chubb, and grabbing the Ohio State back is a strong plan. Henderson has had some minor injuries in college, but he is a quick back who is light on his feet and can find a hole and make a defense pay.

Henderson had 926 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in 10 games last season for the Buckeyes. His numbers may not be crazy as a senior while splitting touches with another talented back like Quinshon Judkins, but he should post another strong campaign that has him set to be an early pick.

Life after Chubb is coming soon and it almost came last season for the Browns, Henderson offers them a nice plan for when it does.
