Perhaps a forgotten piece of the Joe Musgrove trade is Pittsburgh Pirates outfield prospect Hudson Head.
Head was one of five players acquired in the three-team swap two years ago after the Padres selected him in the third round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
The 22-year-old has been off to a nice start this season with High-A Greensboro and that continued on Friday night as he launched another home run.
Here are some of the standouts from Friday’s action in addition to Head.
Indianapolis (16-20)
RHP Osvaldo Bido
1B Malcom Nuñez
Bido tossed five innings of shutout relief but Indianapolis fell 2-1 to the St. Paul Saints. Nunez was responsible for the only run for the Indians with his third homer of the season.
Outfielder Ryan Vilade went 1 for 2 and drew a pair of walks.
Altoona (14-15)
RHP Aaron Shortridge
RF Henry Davis
Altoona walked-off the Akron RubberDucks 2-1 in 10 innings on Friday night. Shortridge was brilliant on the mound while Davis stayed red-hot at the plate.
Pirates prospect Liover Peguero doubled as he finished the night 2 for 5. Jacob Gonzalez also had two hits.
Greensboro (20-11)
LF Hudson Head
SS Maikol Escotto
Head hit his fourth homer of the season while Greensboro won their 20th game in their 8-6 win over the Jersey Shore BlueClaws. Escotto drove in a pair on two hits.
Anthony Solometo struck out six and was tagged with two earned runs in 4.2 innings.
Bradenton (18-13)
RHP Thomas Harrington
SS Jesus Castillo
The Marauders were defeated by the Lakeland Flying Tigers 3-2 in 10 innings but Harrington was sharp in a start that was cut short by a rain delay. Castillo was on base three times and hit his first triple of the year.
Right-hander Blake Cederlind made his first rehab appearance and allowed two runs in one inning of relief.
