Atlanta Braves Catcher Sean Murphy Does Something Not Done For More Than a Decade in the All-Star Game

Ironically enough, shortly after Murphy did this, American League catcher Jonah Heim also threw out a runner: Luis Arraez of the Miami Marlins. So it didn't happen for more than a decade, and then it happened twice in a matter of innings? That's baseball for you.

While Murphy showed off the glove and arm in the All-Star Game, he's been known for his bat this year with the Braves. One of the most offensively gifted catchers in the league, Murphy is hitting .306 with 17 homers and 55 RBI. He's been everything that the Braves could have wanted when they acquired him from the Oakland Athletics this offseason.

He's also a major reason why the Braves are the best team in baseball at the All-Star Break. Having hit the most team home runs before the break in MLB history, Atlanta is 60-29. They've won eight of their last 10 games and lead the National League East by 8.5 games.

They'll be back in action on Friday, July 14 when they take on the Chicago White Sox to kick off the second half.
