Ohio State Safety Has Entered the New Transfer Portal After Spending 1 Season With The Team
Joseph Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State saw four players drafted into the NFL over the past weekend, which is the fewest since 2013 when the Buckeyes only saw three players hear their names. Still, it’s a good thing because many players who were supposed to get drafted this season decided they wanted to return to school and wait until 2025 to enter the NFL.

Ohio State Had Handful Of Star Players Come Back For 2024

Many Buckeyes who would’ve heard their names called over the week came back to school, which includes players wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, offensive lineman Donovan Jackson, running back TreVeyon Henderson, defensive lineman Tyleik Williams, Jack Sawyer, J.T. Tuimoloau, and defensive backs Denzel Burke, Jordan Hancock, and safety Lathan Ransom.

Caleb Downs Heads To Ohio State

The Buckeyes had a handful of players return to school, but they also added some pretty big transfer players, one of whom was Alabama safety Caleb Downs. The soon-to-be-true sophomore is the best safety in the country after starting on the Crimson Tide as a true freshman last season; with Downs coming to Columbus, a few players have been pushed down the depth chart, and on Sunday, an Ohio State safety entered the transfer portal.

Ja’Had Carter Is Heading To The Portal

According to Matt Zenitz from 247sports.com, safety Ja’Had Carter has entered the portal. The senior safety transferred to the Buckeyes in January of 2023 after spending three seasons at Syracuse and was honorable mention All-ACC at Syracuse in 2022.

The Richmond, Virginia, native played in eight games last season, recording five tackles, and will have one year of eligibility remaining.
