The news hit X on Monday that Illinois Basketball has found its Center. According to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express (@DraftExpress) Croatian 5-man Tomislav Ivisic has committed to Brad Underwood and the Fighting Illini. After the exit of Dain Dainja to Memphis, and Armani Hansberry to West Virginia, Illinois was in need of front-court help. With the help of newly re-hired assistant Orlando Antigua, Illinois was able to tap back into the foreign market. Which, Illinois had found success in previously with Orlando on staff.

Armchair Illini Breakdown: Tomislav Ivisic

Per Alex Kyi – Ivisic is a legit 7-footer who currently plays in the Montenegrin basketball league and is averaging 7.1 points and 3.8 rebounds  in approximately 16 minutes per game. Tomislav is the brother of former Kentucky big man, Zvonimir. Zvonimir played last season at Kentucky and has transferred to the University of Arkansas after John Calipari took over that program. Orlando Antigua recruited Zvonimir to Kentucky and that relationship played huge in helping land Tomislav.

Tomislav will join a talented and intriguing frontcourt of Morez Johnson Jr. and Carey Booth. Johnson Jr and Booth both currently project as power forwards, hence having Tomislav Ivisic as a true 7-footer is a bonus for Illinois Basketball.
